There are a lot of great things that can be said about southern cooking.

Culture is part of everything in most areas of the south including food especially in places like Maryland, Ohio River, Missouri, Texas, and Oklahoma. Extensively popular in these places are squash and tomatoes to name a few things. Aside from corn bread, biscuits are also preferred by southern folk and for salads, fruits or garden salads are popular. Southerners are also particular when it comes to table settings as eating on a nice table makes the experience more pleasing.

Corn bread is always part of the southern meal. Southern food lovers have just got to have their cornbread, since there is ???always hot bread??? in a southern kitchen. Without any biscuits, corn bread, or rolls, a southern meal will not be complete.

If you plan on making corn bread, you need ingredients like flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt to start you off. After mixing these powdery substances, you have to add in some milk, eggs, and shortening. Some add sugar while some do not.

The ingredients include 1 ½ cups of self-rising flour, 2 eggs, 1 cup of buttermilk, liquid shortening (olive oil), all-purpose flour, a tablespoon of liquid shortening (oil for the skillet), and ¼ cup of sugar, if desired. Combine everything. Use muffin tins that have been greased when you bake the bread.
